Who destroyed the monument of Khan Kubrat?

Exactly one year ago – at the beginning of April 2021, in the village of Mala Pereshchepina (Ukraine), the monument of Khan Kubrat was demolished.

In Bulgaria, we learned about this from the controlled media, which added that the desecration of the monument was the work of Ukrainian nationalists... How did our journalists come to this conclusion without any arrests, without even any suspects, or at the very least, without any traces left at the site pointing to nationalists, I don’t know?!

However, the news was a welcome gift for local Russian trolls and political whores who have been feeding at the Russian Embassy for years.
A massive spam campaign began across social networks, neighborhood gatherings, and village meetings—a collective outcry from all directions and all sorts of people, many of whom had never even heard of Kubrat or Mala Pereshchepina before.

Anti-Ukrainian sentiments unjustly started gaining momentum, which made it necessary for us to inform our friends in Ukraine about what was happening and the negative effect such a lie would have on Bulgarian-Ukrainian relations.

On behalf of the Bulgarian National Union, I had visited Ukraine in 2017 and 2019. The purpose of our trip was to meet representatives of the Bulgarian minority, learn about their way of life, culture, and problems. At the same time, we visited the grave of the great Khan Kubrat, where we consecrated the flags of the BNU and KUBRAT YOUTH.
On our way back, we passed through Kyiv and visited the headquarters of the renowned Azov Regiment.

At the Atek factory, we were taken by Olena Semenyaka, who was responsible for the regiment’s international contacts and was one of the activists behind the “Intermarium” project. There, for the first time, I saw what nationalism in action means in all aspects. At the entrance, we were greeted by armed guards, and in the courtyard of the former factory, sports facilities had already been built. Inside the building, there was a gym, a computer room where a small platoon of IT specialists worked to maintain Azov’s public image. Every floor had numerous rooms, offices, and a magnificent hall for welcoming visitors, decorated with the Black Sun. We were definitely impressed not only by the setting but also by the hospitable reception, despite not having announced our visit in advance.

There, we met Mykola Kravchenko – Kruk, who introduced himself as the ideological leader of the Azov Regiment and their political organization, the “National Corps.” Mykola spoke Ukrainian and Bulgarian, but it was not difficult for us to understand everything he told us. I was deeply surprised that he knew Bulgarian history better than many of our own patriots. He knew about Kubrat and could name his five sons! He was aware of Bulgaria’s tragic fate, our battles, and losses during the Balkan War, the Inter-Allied War, World War I, and World War II.

He had never heard of us, but he knew who the scumbag Siderov was. That saddened me because I once again realized the power of mass disinformation... An impressive man, a nationalist, and a historian. Unfortunately, after that meeting, we only had one more opportunity to talk again in 2019, as Mykola Kravchenko was killed this year on March 14 in battle against the Russian occupiers.

But let’s get back to the monument in Mala Pereshchepina.
When I learned about its destruction and saw the scale of the anti-Ukrainian propaganda that erupted, I contacted Mykola and asked him to address the issue. A few days later, the “National Corps” condemned the act of vandalism directly from the site and distanced themselves from it! And not only that.
The activists of the “National Corps” committed to assisting in the swift and complete restoration of the monument to the great Khan Kubrat—a Bulgarian and, in principle, of no particular interest to them.
Why did they do this? Because Ukrainian nationalists respect both the Bulgarian minority in Ukraine and Bulgarians as a whole!

Of course, this did not receive any publicity, and scumbags like Kostadin Kostadinov, Plamen Paskov, and other such treacherous Russian lackeys continued spreading the lie that Ukrainian nationalists had destroyed the monument to Khan Kubrat.

Mykola Kravchenko is no longer with us, but we and the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian nationalists will continue working for the rapprochement of our Homelands and Organizations!

Our cause is just, we will prevail! Death to neo-communism!
Glory to nationalism! Our struggle is shared, and we will stand side by side in it!

Boyan Rasate,
Chief Leader of the Bulgarian National Union

Statement from the Ukrainian nationalists regarding the destroyed monument of Khan Kubrat:

"The political party 'National Corps' condemns this disgraceful act of vandalism and hopes that this unfortunate event will not serve as a pretext for the spread of anti-Ukrainian propaganda by agents of influence of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria.
Therefore, we demand that you ensure conditions for the rapid restoration of the monument and control over the investigation of this crime by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies," reads the statement from the nationalists to the governor of the Poltava Regional Administration.
Boyan Rasate:

Hello, brother!
I am Boyan Rasate, and I have been to Ukraine twice as a representative of BNS to establish contact with Ukrainian nationalists.
Recently, Bulgarian media reported that vandals in Ukraine had destroyed the monument of Kubrat in Malaya Pereshchepina, the founder of Old Great Bulgaria. They spread this news and claimed that the Ukrainian people hate Bulgarians.
This is very convenient for the Russophiles. I know Ukrainians and have nationalist friends from Ukraine.
I cannot accept the creation of a bad image for Ukraine and our Ukrainian brothers, with whom we must fight together!

Please help us preserve the friendship between Bulgarians and Ukrainians!
I have contacts with various journalists, and I can change public opinion, but I need help.
I will announce that we have contacted Ukrainian nationalists, and together we will restore the monument.
We don’t want money from you. We need a message that we are brothers and will help each other in this.
This will stop hostile propaganda and will be beneficial for you!
Mykola Kravchenko:

Honor, Boyan!
We received your letter and will work on this direction.
We have already prepared an official letter to the Bulgarian Embassy, expressing our solidarity, and a letter to the Poltava Regional State Administration requesting the restoration of the monument.
Our local center will go to the site, and I hope they will make the necessary video appeal.
Thank you for helping with information; when there is material, we will send it to you.

Boyan Rasate:

Honor, Mykola!
I am glad I contacted you! I don’t need to explain how important this is for Bulgarian-Ukrainian relations.
I appreciate your attention, especially now when the enemy is knocking on your door again!
I will wait for your response and will do everything necessary to popularize it in Bulgaria.
I wish you health and strength!

Mykola Kravchenko:

Honor! The publication is out. It has been published.
Boyan Rasate:

Honor!
Thank you for the position. Now it's our turn to spread it.
Just let me know whose name it should be under – Mykola Kravchenko, Ukrainian nationalist, historian, and Azov veteran, or from the name of the "National Corps"?
Stay healthy and strong!
On our side, you have brothers and comrades in arms!

Mykola Kravchenko:

Comrade, announce it on behalf of our local center of our party.
